13 intrepid hounds braved the heat today to explore Middlefield Road, an area we've talked about for some time and encouraged by recent postings from vlibin, shocker, yimster, and Melanie Wong.
Three separate people took notes, so we'll add threads for each of those stops.
I did a little research after Melanie mentioned that Aguililla was a town in Michoacan with a special relationship to Redwood City; for more than 60 years, immigrants have come from this small town to California, sending money back to Mexico to build houses. (See the link below)
This is not an area where the food has a lot of Mexican-American adaptations, and unlike Fruitvale, it has a low key, suburban feel. We visited four restaurants, one taco truck, and made a stop for slushies, but we could easily explore Middlefield Road every week for the next month and not run out of taquerias.
As always, it was great fun to be out with so many intrepid diners, and as Ciaogina commented, the locals are going to remember that gang of city folks wandering around for a long time. Thanks to everyone for coming out and being game. It was a great afternoon. Food details follow.
