My friend is entertaining some guests from the rural Netherlands near Amsterdam tonight and I'm going with. She plans for us to walk over the Brooklyn bridge, and then have drinks and dinner in Brooklyn within walking distance. I used to live in Carroll Gardens but didn't venture up into the Heights much, and though I do love Boerum Hill, it might be a little far. There's Kino in Dumbo, which I haven't been to, but from what I've heard the food is mediocre. Is this true?
So. The first place that came to mind was Noodle Pudding, which has been mentioned favorably here. But I looked at the description, and felt like the Dutch folks can probably get good Italian in Jersey (where my friend lives), and that it would be better to sample some food that they might not be able to find in the Netherlands. So maybe middle eastern on Atlantic Ave? I remember people mentioning a place called...Fountains? Fontina? as being the best, but can't quite remember the name. Or, do you have any other suggestions for the Brooklyn Heights area? The Dutch people are adventurous and up for just about anything, I think, but we should keep costs down as much as possible.
