Threads on different kitchen appliances and gadgets have made me reassess my kitchen counters and take stock of what I actually use. In my microwave, I melt and soften butter, scald milk, melt unsweetened baking chocolate, make popcorn, reheat leftovers from a restaurant meal very occasionally. I think I must be missing the boat here. I am not looking to bake a whole chicken in the thing, not looking to wring the mileage out of it that Barbara Kafka does in her microwave cookbook, but suspect others are getting more practical use out of this taker upper of space than I am. Vegetables maybe? What?
