I have gone twice to Michel Richard Patisserie on Robertson just south of 3rd. I got an apricot tart and an almond brioche. Both of them unfortunately were dry and not especially flavorful. I haven't eaten breakfast there or gotten a baguette though.
Speaking of which, around the corner on 3rd St is a place I haven't seen before, "breadbar", selling loaves of bread and some pastry items. I haven't tried any of it.
