Former Miami Chowhound now in DC in need of a recommendation

FoodDude2 | Mar 29, 201705:38 AM

Hi Guys,

I used to live in Miami/Hallandale for about 6 years but moved to DC back in 2013. My wife and I will be back in the area next weekend and will have a free night (our son was just born--7 weeks old and MIL is babysitting) so I am looking for a recommendation for a nice dinner. We will be staying in Coral Springs so I am looking for somewhere between Aventura and Boca.

If we were further south, I would probably try a place like Eating House. Some of our favorites used to be Hiro's Yakkasan, Café Sharaku, Tom Jenkins, hole in the wall Peruvian places, Yardbird, Michaels Genuine, NAOE (when it was $80/pp in NMB), Hi-Life Cafe, TruLucks, and many others I can't even remember anymore.

I am looking for a nice restaurant but does not have to be fancy. Not too expensive but doesn't have to be cheap. Dinner for two around $100-$150 is fine but less is cool too. We love basically all types of food. No food restrictions. We will be very happy as long as the food is delicious. My wife is not crazy about Greek/Mediterranean so lets stay away from that. Peruvian, Caribbean, anything Asian, Cuban, seafood focused or any chef driven restaurant are all great for us. If we go Italian, I'd probably try Café La Buca. My FIL loves that place but we have never been.

Thank you for any suggestions!
