Husband and I will there for a conference at the MB convention center. First visit. I'll be working by day (bummer)while he's playing. We're staying at the Doubletree Surfcomber on Collins & 17th and without wheels.
Since our time there is short I'm hoping you can hook us up with some great Miami Beach eats.
By day husband will be on his own for lunch. Quick bite or not, but casual a must. View, outdoor, unique, and/or insider in the know joints favored. Sandwiches, burgers, pizza, fish & chips, salad, regional grub, (and maybe a beer) all fit the bill. He loves to walk, especially along the beach so no need to limit choices to immediate area. He'll be all over that oceanwalk and the Art Deco District.
For dinner: Would love to try regional favorites and get a taste of Cuban and other Caribbean, South American influences. Miami Beach institutions favored by locals. Also like steak, seafood, Italian. Just about anything really except Japanese and sushi and no Mexican since we get a ton of that where we live in CA.
Again nice enviroment, view, outdoor, unique, funky or "only in Miami Beach" are all good. Could be casual or not, pricey or not. We like to walk, cuz we don't like to make a project out of getting a meal, but not adverse to short cab rides.
Alta Mar and Tap Tap have been recommended- we're craving grouper and conch.
Open to it all suggestions except definitely do NOT want pretentious and sceney!!!
Only have 5 nights in MB so want to make it count. Thanks all!
