Ok, I just had lunch which means I haven't tried everything so I agree this is a "shallow" take. Still, I went with very high expectations about finding really jazzy fusion asian at a significantly higher level than the competition. Had lunch with a friend. Shared egg rolls, thai noodle salad, and tea smoked ribs. The good stuff: very pretty place, very pleasant service. The good food: tea smoked ribs were intriguing, thai noodle chicken salad with lots of fresh basil and lemongrass was light and pleasant, egg rolls were cold in the center, served with bland sauce, and truly disappointing. The rouleaux at Elephant Walk danced circles around these egg rolls, salads i've had at vietnamese and thai restaurants were as good or better and considerably cheaper, and I'd rate only the ribs as different enough not to deserve comparison to other venues. I'm getting the sense that the heavy play here may be affection for the owners and attraction to the venue. If others can tell me more about why the food blew them away, I'd be glad to go back and try an encore.
