Mexican in Lower Westchester - finally

SJMEats | Jan 31, 2009 06:05 PM

So we moved here a year ago and have tried very unsuccesfully to find a halfway decent Mexican Restaurant in Lower Westchester (in fact, they barely exist in Manhattan either). Our experience with Mexican restaurants here are: high priced, low quality food, poor service and many times, not even close to authentic.

We took a chance on El Gran Rodeo tonight and we were not disappointed!! All ingredients were fresh...that's right, the salsa, guacamole, onions, refried could taste every last ingredient. The portions were extremely generous, as were the included sides of sour cream, guacamole, fresh sliced avocado, refried beans. The salsa had the right kick and the tortillas were homemade...and you could taste the difference. The owner, Juan Cisneros, who was an excellent host, offered several specials. The rice pudding dessert was perfectly simple, but fresh again and delicious. Dinner for two $30 and under without drinks. Drink prices were reasonable..sangria was great.

The lunch menu looks excellent, and we will return without a doubt. $6.99 lunch menu includes a soda.

Thank god...finally a Mexican Restaurant!
