I'm an ex-San Franciscan but I've been gone for over ten years so I don't know what's out there anymore. I am a librarian and will be in town this summer (2001) for the American Library Association conference. We're having an anniversary party for one of our divisions and we're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the Mission. We're taking a mural tour from 10-12, so at noon we'll be at Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center at 24th and Harrison. We'd like a place within walking distance, which I would define as 6-8 blocks or so (I'd walk farther, but some of these folks are pretty sedentary...).
Although I fondly remember taquerias like La Cumbre, we probably need a sit-down place with table service for this event. Obviously, we want ALL the food to be good, but I am particularly interested in hand-rolled tortillas, fresh, hot, greasy chips, and really good (and hot) salsa, or better yet, pico de gallo. Also, margaritas are a necessity.
Anyway, any advice, recommendations, or ideas you have would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
