Mexican oregano has been mentioned as an ingredient for making chili in some recent postings. No one has bothered to define it for those of you who are unfamiliar with it.
Mexican oregano (Lippia graveolens) is not the same as Mediterranean oregano (Origanum vulgare). The former is a verbena while the latter is in the mint family. Mexican oregano is more aromatic than the Mediterranean variety.
I think the politically incorrect* adage bears repeating..."One man's chili is another man's axle grease."
I'm a 'no beans' chili cook (chili snob if you prefer). I do like frijoles refritos as a side dish.
