Mexican leavened tortillas--what are these called?

I was browsing through a long, bumped thread on flour vs. corn tortillas, and it reminded me of these delightful tacos I had in a hole-in-the wall restaurant in Monticello, Indiana. I don't know what the regional flair of the restaurant was, as there were quite a few unfamiliar dishes (including a plateful of simply charred ultra-spicy green chiles with cebollita onions).

If I remember correctly, the taco filling was similar to carne asada, with avocado and crema, but the outer bread was basically naan, not a flat, unleavened tortilla. I believe they were fried slightly, but not greasy. Heavenly!

Anyone have an idea what this might be? I'd love to make my own version, but Google is not helping me. Closest I've found might be "sope," but I'm not sure. As far as I could tell, they were wheat flour (or at least partially), not masa...they had that nice stretch that a good naan or pita has, and big air bubbles in places.
