Mexican food near the Shrine Auditorium

a note of thanks for a good tip about La Taquiza - 3009 S. Figueroa Blvd. @30th St 213. 741-9795 we were staying close by and had lunch and breakfast there....the al pastor was tasty and they had very good agua fresca - I had the pineapple (pina).
The salsa bar had a nice variety of choices: radishes, jalapeno, carrots, salsa fresca, onions & cilantro, a smoked salsa, an avacado sauce that actually tasted of avacado, a tomatillo salsa and one or two more.....all on crushed ice - as was all the different agua frescas. generous portions. open for breakfast and until midnight. tried the huevos ranchero for breakfast - a huge platter of food for $4.99 - liked the creamy refried beans and the thick homestyle tortillas. it was great having this place 100 yards from our motel! I noticed that across the street there was another Mexican place that featured pastrami as well.....is that an LA thing - like in Oki Dog/Oki burrito? ( I just read about that - sounds intrigueing / weird )
