If your from SA this is a question that can't be answered because the reality is most of us have broken this down to places we go for different meals, levels of dinning and even specific dishes. You also have the "Best fajitas" element which is a whole different question.
I just read the other best mexican in SA post and thought if I broke it down more and eliminated folks that werent from here( no offense, we still love you guys)
that people really could get a much more accurate description of where us native San Antonian's eat when we grub our beloved tex-mex.
I'll lay mine out.
Mine aren't listed from "favorite" to "least favorite", theyre all places i go to equally.
BREAKFAST - Las Palapas or Blanco cafe(blanco for migas), Ruthies, Las Chiladas but tons of other breakfast taco joints
( i'm on north side so others will have great places all over too)
LUNCH/ CASUAL - Las Palapas, Mr Henry's Puffy Taco's, Blanco cafe,
Rolondo's Super Taco's, Los Barrios
DINNER (nicer) - El Jarro, Mi Tiera, Jacala, La Margarita, La Fogata, Los Patios(ambiance)
FAJITAS - Someone "Q-ing" in their back yard, but since thats not realistic my vote goes to Alamo Cafe.
Alamo Cafe isn't really considered mexican food by most
San Antonian's, it's simply Alamo cafe - but it's great and most all of us eat there!
They sell the heck out of fajitas.
Love to hear others opinions
