I will soon be traveling to the DC area and would like
to know if there are any good Mexican food places
there. Taco shops are good. Salsa bars better. Pay
at the drive-thru window acceptable.
Check out the newsgroup dc.dining, they are very
helpful. They found me a great Thai and Indian on my
trip.
About 10 years ago I went to a place called
Carmelita's in Adams Morgan. The mole was phenomenal,
all dishes were authentic. I don't know if the place
still exists.
BTW, theres an AWESOME Vietnamese restaurant in
Georgetown, on Avenue M. Its just called "Vietnamese
Restaurant" I think, its near the Riggs bank. One of
my first exposures to Vietnamese and definitely the
food is great.
For greek try Zorba's in Dupont Circle, great Gyros
I think you're referring to Miss Saigon, and it's on M
St. NW, toward Key Bridge. Sorry, I'm being picky.
But I wouldn't want someone to ask to be pointed toward
Avenue M in DC and have some smart aleck make a
Brooklyn joke.
Well, the last time I was -in- DC was in 1990. Thats a
long time. I remember the vietnamese resturant on a
corner in Gtown on avenue M, but I could be suffering
from early Alzheimers.
I went to American University, it could be all that
partying thats confusing things...
I also remember a Ethiopian restaurant that was really
good nearby, where I once had dinner with Manute.

So, is that why when I go back to my favorite place
around SDSU, for the food, I always end up with a
redeeming beer special, and hard bread? Fortunately
repetition at Los Ponchos in Pacific Beach brought me
to find the perfect green chile pork burrito, Sunday
menudo and carne asada wet burrito.

Zed's on M St moved recently; afraid I don't have the address handy. Of course, most of the Ethiopian places in DC are up in Adams Morgan.
Sorry I chimed in so late. Before the Chowhound redesign I wasn't visiting; my computer had problems dealing with the old message boards.
