Mexican Food in Chicago

ej | Jun 23, 2002 03:12 PM

I'm new to the board and posting here for the first time. I live an hour outside of Chicago in Michigan and come into the city often. I'm a Latino originally from Los Angeles, and grew up eating fine Mexican food both at home and around town. I was told by a friend that Nuevo Leon was the best place in the Pilson (sp?) area. I found it to be okay, but I have to think there must be better places. Anyone have any other recommendations for that area or any other area in town? I've been to Rick Bayless's place "The Frontera Grill" and like it very much, although a bit too "trendy" and not "earthy" enough for my taste. Any other places I should try?
