We tried the Metropolitan Club last night. The bottom line was good food, very disorganized service.
The breads were delicious; rolls, cornbread and scones served with dipping accompaniments. Next caesar salad, house salad and shrimp cocktail. Only three pieces in the shrimp cocktail but they were large. All served in a timely manner and were fresh and good.
Then trouble set in. One of our party had ordered the sirloin but was served a filet. We sent it back. After 20 minutes there was no sign of his order - we asked the waitress to check on it. The manager appeared and informed us that they ran out of sirloin steaks "a while ago". (When do you think they planned on letting us know??) A porterhouse was ordered which took 20 minutes more. By this time, we all had finished our meals.
The bill arrived and you guessed it. We were charged for both steaks. It took the waitress a good 10 minutes to return with correct copy. We paid with cash and credit card and the waitress overcharged the credit card by $100. To make matters worse, the waitress disappeared after each trip to our table and it took us 10 minutes to find her after each disappearance - you'd think she'd make herself available to help expedite solutions to these problems - especially since the restaurant had emptied out by this time. In all - a three and half hour meal.
Let's hope these problems are just the ususal kinks that often plague newly opened establishments. Time will tell.
