Having always had good to very good experiences at Meson Asturias, I took a pal who loves Spanish chow, but feels less kindly towards our pescatorian pals.....she'd done la portena a bunch, and i'd been to La Fusta a few times lately, so we settled on Meson Asturias.....which turned out to be a mistake.
Appetizers: chorixo cut way too thick, swimming in oil with little discernible seasoning; manchego cheese cut into chunks and served with low grade green olives.
mains: steak in blue cheese sauce that went well beyonf "marbled" into fatty and a shell steak that, while decent enough, had little oomph *and arrived a bit overcooked). sides were frustrating as well...two pieces of roast potato per entree along with frozen broccoli spears.
this was a wednesday night and the place was just about deserted...so did we hit a very off night or is this a general downturn?
