Mendocino Again--Current Menu report

Just briefly, since the Mendocino menu changes so often, I thought I'd deliver an update. Went for snacks/wine on Friday, and stayed for dinner, too.

Chicken liver bruschetta appetizer: Perhaps the best thing I had. The flavors really popped and it was a good size for sharing. It was gone pretty quickly!

Lamb carpaccio appetizer: Good, tender texture; surprisingly light and refreshing. Served with springy fresh arugula.

Venison and spaetzle: This was really good but I only got one bite as the other half suddenly became piggy--a good sign, I suppose! They do a really good job with spaetzle and this time was not an exception.

Roast chicken and rapini: Perfect for a rainy night--savory and warm, especially the mushroom gravy, which was more of a light sauce than a traditional gravy. Did not have a particularly crispy skin, but I was told that the cooking method precluded such. Still, they gave me the crispiest one they had. Not something to rave about, but just what I wanted at the time.
