Menchanko-Tei - improved

Joe | Mar 17, 2004 08:22 AM

Following a short closure for renovations, Menchanko-tei has reopened with some improvements in the kitchen. Seafood Menchanko, now priced at $14.95 or so, a dollar more than the pre-renovation version, is a much more complex broth, with salmon, squid, scallops, clams and shrimps. The fish cakes, also prepared with salmon, are now more like good gefilte fish than the gummy balls they used to be. Another improvement is that their new menu makes ordering Oden a less daunting task for the non-Japanese...

Mind you, improvements are not dramatic, so if you didn't like this place before, you're not likely to like it now.
