... my husband and I had a great anniversary weekend in Memphis. We managed to eat more than two people should in 2 1/2 days. Our list:
Blue Plate Cafe
Bryant's BBQ & Breakfast
A&R (fried pies only)
Neely's Interstate BBQ
We tried for Rendevous ribs the night we got in, but they had problems with the cash register, and were closed. My goal was lots of sweet tea, grits and pie. The chess pie at Gus's and the lemon ice box at The Cupboard were pie nirvana. My husband was into the pig - the ribs at Corky's were voted tops, with the chopped shoulder sandwich at Payne's the top, closely followed by Central. We didn't have a bad meal - just too many of them.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you whose sage advice we used in planning. Should any of you ever venture to the southern california area, we'd be happy to help!
