I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food at Megas on the Danforth last night. I tried their mezedes platter for 2, which included grilled octopus, calamari, spanakopita, tiropita, dolmades, and loukaniko.The grilled calamari and octopus were excellent. The filling in the tiropita was creamier than usual,and the restaurant didn't skimp on buttering the filo.
The horiatiki (village salad) was great- very ripe tomatoes. The kopanisti was a tasty rendition with a fair amount of bite. And the bread was made in house, dense homestyle Greek bread, quite different from the type Greek bakeries sell. Good service, great portion sizes. Free halvah and melon at the end of the meal.
