Went to Meditrina, the new place downtown and it's off to a promising start.
We started with the gazpacho and the asparagus soup special. The gazpacho was excellent. The asparagus soup would have had a good flavor but was too salty to eat. The waiter was good about taking it back and comping the next course, the pasta with chick peas (I forget the Italian name - pasta "lightning and thunder"). The angel hair was a little overcooked, but the chick peas were excellent - there was some heat - really a very good dish. Next on the small plate menu were the chicken with Moroccan spices and lamb with lentils. Both were very good. Dessert was ice cream (saffron and ginger? I forget exactly) which was interesting.
I was very impressed with the servers - very friendly and helpful. They make a good martini, too.
I think it's still finding its stride, but I'd certainly go back. It's a great addition to downtown for a somewhat more casual good dining option.
