Mediterranean Grill - Springfield, VA

Greetings fellow Chowhounds, first time poster long time lurker. Just wanted to let everyone know about Mediterranean Grill in Springfield, 7024 Commerce St. next to TK Thai. The sign on the building says Burger Joe's but there is a cardboard sign in the window with Mediterranean Grill on it. Having read a lot of good reviews for the Lebanese Butcher here on CH, I think people here might like MG.

I have tried the Chicken shawarma and it was very good, not dry, meat was tender, nice garlicky flavor, french fries that came with it were excellent as well. Beef Shawarma was just as good nicely seasoned but not over powering. I have not tried the lamb sharwarma yet, it was slice off the cone type. Overall the place is clean and quiet, not crowded (yet). The place was not busy inside when I was there, but there were a lot of delivery orders. I had a few minutes to talk to the owners and it turns out they are related to Kadeer at LB, all the meat that is used in the restaurant comes from their farms. They also have a small selection of spices and dry goods. I eyed some hummus and tobuleh (sp) in the case but have not tried it yet.

They also have a fresh meat case with marinated meats and fresh lamb. I picked up some fresh lamb and it was very good quality (no smell when cooking). All the meat served and sold there is Halal.

The menu contains both American fare (subs, hamburgers, fries) and Lebanese sandwiches, meat was very fresh just like LB.

Hopefully I did not miss anything in my first review/posting, but for me I know I will be adding this place to the rotation.
