Is it okay to keep meat in the original store packaging?

newbiefor1 | Dec 27, 201712:35 AM

Some people repackage it or put it a separate container...
I just put it in the freezer in the store bought packaging, then when Im ready to
cook it I just take it out and put in the refrigerator and let it defrost in that original packaging...

I never take it out of its original store packaging until Im going to cook it..
Is this what most people do and is this okay? Its usually in a sealed plastic,
or in plastic on a styrofoam tray, or wrapped in butcher paper.
