Meat Loaf help!

OK, I love meatloaf but have not been able to make a decent one. I have got the sauce down, but the meat is disappointing. I like a very solid, flavorful loaf. What meat mixture, binder, ect should I use? Mine turn out insipid and it falls apart after slicing. Any advice would be appreciated. Ohhhh for my granny's recipe!
