At the end of June, my family and I were moving away from The Berkshires. I needed to plan my meals accordingly! Of course I chose: Bistro Box, John Andrews, and Gypsy Joynt.
The day before I left my friend and I went to GJ for lunch and again, the staff was rude (always are) BUT I DON'T CARE - That "ziggy up" sandwich is like no other. It's a lentil burger with peanut butter, bacon jam, mozzarella, and a spicy sauce I forget the name of. Not too many places I would return to with that staff, but the meal is worth it.
That night I went to JA for dinner at the bar. I had been the month before and it was wonderful then and was again this time. JA is a all time favorite. I think I had the exact same thing as last time too, the prosciutto/mozzarella salad and then the pasta with brown butter sage with almond cake for dessert. My friend had the whole roasted garlic bulb that was delicious and the same pasta as me. Excellent meal. My only complaint was the bartender. I have only been there 3 x since he has been there, but he rubs me the wrong way every time. I know some people love him, and that's great...I have never gotten great service from him and I think his personality is pretty flat. But again, the food shall prevail!
My last day before I left for the airport I had to go to The Bistro Box. If you read these threads you will see me gushing over BB. For 3 months, I would go once week ( sometimes more ) and order the box burger and truffle fries. I would honestly crave it all week. The BB is such a wonderful addition to The Berkshires. The owners are great people, the place has such a good vibe, the place is just a gem. I heard they had to take a mid summer break this week for some R & R. Good for them!
