My wife and I have a sitter for our kids for one night and are trying to figure out what restaurant to go to. We've narrowed it down to the following:
The Compound
Coyote Cafe
Restaurant Martin
Eloisa
La Boca
Geronimo
Also, would any of these be kid appropriate for lunch?
Somehow missed your post earlier and your trip has probably come and gone, but I'd suggest avoiding The Compound, Eloisa, and Restaurant Martin (only Restaurant Martin in downright blech, but neither The Compound nor Eloisa are that special). Both Geronimo and La Boca are good. Geronimo is more of a classic Santa Fe restaurant, but it may be a bit past its prime. La Boca is a very nice tapas restaurant, but it could be anywhere they'd have a very nice tapas restaurant. I think the best fine dining restaurant in Santa Fe right now is probably Arroyo Vino.
Probably come and gone, but would totally agree w ninrn
Avoid Compound, Eloisa, and Martin
Geronimo and Coyote Cafe are consistently outstanding (but expensive)
La Boca is excellent and authentic - including the very tight seating
Arroyo Vino is excellent but lacks Santa Fe flavor (it's in the "suburbs")
I'd add State Capital Kitchen which has my favorite chef (Mark Connell) AND
Sazon which is fairly new and IMO outstanding (although I've only been once). The menu is built around mole and a TON of specials each night
If you have gone already, please comment!
As for kids at lunch, Rooftop Cantina (although chilly), La Boca and maybe Eloisa
Geronimo. If you only have one meal, go there. Fine dining, gracious service. I'd suggest Sazon, but they are closed after a fire.
Here's another one to consider. I haven't been there yet, but it is Italian and getting fantastic reviews.
Coyote Cafe is perfect for a lunch with the kids.
