mea culpa ~ Re(1): best duck value in Oakland Chinatown?

Tsk, tsk, tsk...this is one of those times when a message board is just the wrong place to put a “message”. So much is lost, ones voice, the cadence with which you’re speaking, your tone, your nonchalance, your casualness, your INTENT. My original message was taken far more seriously than I ever intended. As I stated in the original posting I only meant to “relate” a story and to see if anyone had a similar situation, or to see if I was a little paranoid.

Firstly, I didn’t mean that I thought the staff was pilfering the choice pieces for themselves to eat silly people, I meant that they might use it for following customer meals. That was my “crazy” theory anyhow.

Secondly, the only thing that I thought was “ludicrous” was that my posting could cause 20 Sun Hong Kong employees to lose their jobs. This is a restaurant that I’ve been going to since I was a little squirt. Have you EVEN been to SHK? It’s not going anywhere. I doubt if the folks who eat there week in and week out read chowhounds and rely on it like a Bible. Don’t worry, Sun Hong Kong abides!

Thirdly, if you’ve ever had good duck, you know the breast pieces are the choices pieces, the legs are drier & more sinewy.

Fourthly, and I think most importantly...I ended my message with saying THE DUCK IS GOOD. Meaning, I still eat there, I still order duck & I will continue to eat there anytime I have a hankering for duck or bbq pork w/egg over rice(very yummy).

I’ve read far more posting on this site with people posting full outright negative posting of particular restaurants and telling everyone to avoid the place like the plague. What about those restaurants? What about their 20 employees? Hmmmph.

People need to relax.

One little message...and I didn’t think it would get all your panties in a twist for goodness sake. BUT….it is not beyond me to say sorry, so I apologize to anyone or any establishment that I offended, and yes Peter, the next time I see a masked man in black slinking out the back door of Sun Hong Kong clutching those luscious breast pieces with greasy hands , I will repost my message.

I felt I had to defend myself on this message board and I am sorry I didn’t get a chance to earlier yesterday when things were fired at me left and right, but I was far too busy enjoying my evening out to see INTERPOL...ooh, maybe I should call them about the missing duck pieces.
