Thank you for all who replied to my quandry about choice of restaurant up in Maine.
MCPerkins Cove is a beautiful restaurant - all redone inside with a dramatic view of the cove.
The food was terrific; I chose Peekytoe (I love that name!) crab cakes for an appetizer with caper remoulade sauce and slaw, the crab cakes were as light as air. My husband chose the Bib lettuce salad with Green Goddess dressing & giant croutons. The head of lettuce was reconstructed on the plate, looking like it just came out of the garden.. pretty neat. Croutons were buttery and the dressing was light and not overpowering.
My dinner was a special, fresh cedar planked halibut with jasime rice. You get several options for a sauce on the fish; my choice was called Mom's Sauce. It was a melange of soy, ginger, horseradish, etc., can't remember all of the ingredients. It didn't overpower the fish at all, only enhanced it. Husband had another special, grilled pork chop on polenta with rabe as a side. He told me his meal was very good.
The service is friendly, fast and efficient. We never lacked for anything. We're looking forward to going back the next time we are up in the area.
