Mayflower, Char, Amerigo - Jackson, MS

I had some clients in town this week and did some great eating. Love those expense accounts.

Tuesday night - Mayflower. I had the broiled oysters, which is probably on of my most favorite entrees in town. Everyone was disappointed in that they were out of almost all the fish, except for the whole flounder, but the shrimp and oysters did not disappoint.

Wednesday night - Char. Steaks all around and they were all excellent. Char puts out some of the best salads in town as well, and makes a mean gumbo.

Thursday night - Amerigo. Tico's and Shapley's had hour-plus waits, but we got right in to Amerigo. Amerigo is definitely an underrated restaurant. I had the planked seabass with garlic and leek mashed potatoes, and it was outstanding. Another person had the tilapia with crabmeat and basically licked his plate.

I'm very pleased with the current state of Jackson dining.
