Max's Takes its schtick to Skokie

The San Jose Mercury News has a nice article about the SF Bay area Max's "chain" trying to break out of the twin traps of high overhead and parochial foodie snobbery and explore new geographic and demographic (not to mention cultural) markets. Something I'd forgotten, but is obviously endearing to me, is that fact that the chain began as Max's Son in 1978 in Daly City, a combination Jewish deli and Chinese restaurant.
