Max Hansen's Carversville Grocery

famdoc | Sep 2, 2013 02:09 PM

This spring, veteran Bucks County caterer Max Hansen took over the landmark Carversville General Store. Long a meeting place for village residents, a post office, a stopover for cyclists and hikers exploring the back roads of Bucks County, Hansen has turned the General Store into a food destination, as well. We recently paid our first two visits to the Grocery and were thrilled by the quality of the food served, the helpfulness of the staff and the pleasant ambiance he's created there. A counter full of fresh baked goods, including fruit muffins, donuts, cakes, pies and croissants will satisfy your breakfast cravings, while a showcase full of salads, meats and other prepared items makes the Grocery a great stop for lunch.

A little out of the way, particularly if you're visiting Lambertville or New Hope, it's worth the detour. If the weather is nice, take your purchases to the little park adjoining the parking lot. If not, enjoy your meal at the comfortable counter seating in front.
