I've two old friends coming to town, and would like take them out for a great Italian dinner in a beautiful, non-stuffy setting. We're all over 60, and emphatically not looking for a "scene."
I dined alone at Del Posto years ago, and it was perfect. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again, but thought I'd check in with those of you who dine out frequently, and are up on the latest. In addition to good food and wine, our priorities are:
1. Elegant (the men in the group will happily don jackets), but not "sitting-on-a-thumbtack" formal.
2. Quiet enough to converse without shrieking.
3. Tables not jammed together.
Expensive is okay, this being a special occasion. Kind thanks for your suggestions!
