If you are a fan of sushi rolls- avoid at all costs.
Tried it last night...started with gyozas...horrible. They tasted of butane gas...like they were cooked over a naked burner. Dreadful. Next up the tiger roll (salmon, tuna yellowtail), spicy yellowtail roll, dragon roll and california roll shared between 2. Never have I had sushi that tasted so "heavy", devoid of that fresh zingy taste you get in a place that knows what they are doing. The rolls were all laced with a kind of heavy cream/mayonnaise to hold the slivers of not so fresh fish together. Tasted really really bad. Just the taste of the mayo coming thru which was so heavy.
And the service was kinda weird too...our server went into over-the-top "I'm so japanese" service mode...all dramatic shouting and proclamtions of "here's your...GYOZAS!!!"..."and now...THE TIGER ROLL"...produly displaying the food for a couple of minutes before finally plunking it down on the table to let us finally eat. Hilariously embarrassing...I was actually cringing...
Picture a disneyesque badly stereotyped attempt on sushi in, say, idaho (no disrespect to idaho) and you are getting close with this place. Avoid at all costs. In future, I will be sticking with Kira sushi in Greenwich and Tengda in Darien.
