I made the trip to Masa after reading the previous reports here. Let me begin by saying that I'm from Chicago and I KNOW what good pizza is. Chicago pizza is a religion to me, you either believe or you don't. Woe be unto those unbelievers. BTW if you're NOT from Chicago and don't have a clue about what good pizza is, keep your lame opinions to yourself!
Now, I went there expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. This is the cheese on top Chicago style. I'm more of a fan of the sauce on top but that's another discussion. Great red sauce, cheese and a killer crust with the cornmeal. The slices are ample and a large pizza left two 200+ pound eaters very satisfied with three slices leftover.
Spoke with the guy who does the pizzas and he's from Chicago and has worked at pizza places back home. He knows his stuff and speaking of stuffed pizzas, he said that he'd like to make them but that they just don't have the chance to do them, yet.
This is good pizza! If you're from Chicago, go check it out. I'll be back and often.
