Marzetti's French Dressing

BrooklynSabra | Jan 31, 2004 12:42 PM

Hello fellow Chowhounders:

While I am usually a lemon juice and olive oil girl, on occasion I find myself craving French dressing and when I do, thoughts invariably turn to Marzetti's. As a former Chicagoan, I am distraught that I cannot seem to find this gem of a condiment as readily as I could in the refigerated section of virtually every supermarket back in the Windy City. Once in awhile I will come across a jar of Marie's -- a second rate substitute. Everything else I have tried has been, in my humble opinion, thousand island masquerading as French -- these pathetic renditions have lacked the wonderful tomatoey zestiness and robust color of Marzetti's -- and were an anemic shade of orange with a bland, very mayonnaisey flavor. I just know I can find this dressing somewhere in the area. Help!
