This weekend my wife and I had dinner at both the Martini House and Terra. She forbid me from taking any notes during our meal, but the following are my recollections.
Martini House -
We were grateful to get seated within 5 minutes without having a reservation on Friday. It was about 8:00 pm.
I had the Summer Tasting menu and the wine pairing. She had a three course dinner of a salad, steak, and dessert. No wine for her.
We had no real complaints about either the food or service, but felt the food was not quite worthy of the service and the presentation.
On Saturday, we had the following at Terra:
2. ginger poached shrimp
3. maine lobster with scallops
4. grilled kurobuta prok chop
5. cheese plate
6. sauteed pound cake
At Terra, the food and atmosphere were outstanding. The casual approach of the service, although refreshing, didn't seem to match the high quality of the food. Almost the opposite of the Martini House.
I would rate Terra as being the much better total experience than the Martini House for roughly the same money. However, Martini House was still a great restaurant that would stand well in most markets where the competition isn't as good.
