On a recent visit to San Francisco, my son and I were traipsing around the Haight and got hungry. We stopped at a bar restaurant that had the feeling of having been there forever. On the menu was something called Irish bacon and cabbage, which turned out to be the best corned beef I've ever eaten. The boiled potatoes that come with it were gently sitting on a lightly chived sour cream base. It's worth the plane fare if you don't live there.
