marston's in pasadena

i was able to go to marston's in pasadena for the first time this weekend. i had heard about the great french toast at this breakfast/lunch place, and since i absolutely love great breakfasts, i had to try it. my first impression was positive. it's got that charming neighborhood restaurant feel. the decor is simple but pleasant. as for the food? well, i was actually disappointed. however, i was only able to try the french toast. the french toast is certainly unusual (crusted with corn flakes?), but it was very dry, and truly, not even worth finishing. maybe this was just an off day?

personally, i think it's hard to beat a cheddar cheese & bacon waffle at uncle bill's pancake house in manhattan beach, or wheat germ pancakes at east beach bar & grill in santa barbara.
