Marseilles Dinner Report (Long)

Just had dinner there tonight and really liked the food. Apps that we tried:
A very tasty salad that had endives, asparagus, walnuts and greens

Seafood lasagna: shrimp, mussels and cockles in a green sauce

Meat Meze: a tiny bit of foie gras, sausage on hummus, and beef in a pastry shell over something very creamy

My least favorite was the meze. There was only a bite of each and the sauces were just too overpowering

Poached duck breast with spinach and shitake - excellent, very tender and tasty. we were worried about the poached part, but it was quite good

Lamb chops and braised lamb leg with pureed eggplant and a side of couscous with pine nuts. this was great. the lamb chops were tender and the lamb leg was off the bone, very tender and cut into pieces mixed in a wonderful brown sauce. the sides were delicious and it was a great combo of ingredients.

Warm apple compote and apple cider sorbet, sorbet was very good, like eating a frozen apple

Chocolate sorbet, vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge in a crisp ball, very good, their choc sorbet was deep and very rich

Service was a bit slow and I wouldn't have minded if we didn't have a 7:30 curtain to make. At 7:00pm we asked if there was enough time for dessert given our 7:30pm theater. He said, yes and so we ordered dessert. It came out at about 7:15pm and we were rushing through it. However he did comp the desserts due to the delay. All in all, I would go back when I wasn't in such a rush. But in our defense, we did allocate 2 hours to dinner.
