Mariquita Farm organic U-pick tomatoes 50 cents a pound

rworange | Aug 12, 200501:40 PM

Mariquita Farm in Holister will hold tomato u-picks. Mariquita sells only Saturdays at the SF Ferry Building. This from the website:

Thursdays 8/11, 8/18 (Andy's Bday!) and 8/25: 8am to 1:30pm

Saturday August 27th 9am to 4pm.

Cost: free to attend and pick and eat tomatoes. 50 cents a pound for tomatoes picked and taken home. Current CSA members get their first 5 pounds free.

Ok, you'll spend more in gas and eating on the way to the farm, but it sounds charming even to an non-pick-it-yourself person like me.

If you click on directions, they mention a Victorian house and driving down the dirt road to the fields avoiding potholes.

Besides, all the tomatoes you can eat while picking for free. If you can tomatoes or sauce, this could be an excellent deal, gas or no gas, given the quality of thier produce.

Thanks to the CUESA newsletter for the heads up.
