Did I marinade my steak and chicken too long?

Hi! We were planning on grilling yesterday but weren't able to. I had steak and chicken breasts marinating for fajitas. They had soy sauce, oil, juice of 2 limes, brown sugar, garlic, and seasoning (cumin, chili powder, and pepper). They ended up marinating for 18 hours. Now I have them out of the marinade in the refrigerator.

I Googled this and read that the meat can be ruined by either saltiness or acidity, of which I had both, albeit in smaller quantities. I'm just wondering - was this likely too long? Do I need to go out and buy some more meat to grill? I'm worried it will turn out crappy after grilling. It didn't seem mushy like I've read but the steak did seem quite firm.

Thanks!
