My high expectations for the new Marchionda's (old Angelina's location) were not met last night. Greeted warmly by the friendly staff, we were looking forward to a great meal, prepared by people who started the restaurant as their passion (despite having full time job in other fields). The space is lovely- decorated in warm colors, wine motif and comfortable setting. A huge step up from the previous surroundings. We started with the clams casino appetizer: slightly overcooked, very salty and not completely detached from the shell. On to the Caesar salad- I enjoyed but hubby thought it was very cold. A bit overdressed, but quite tasty. For entrees, we ordered pasta dishes. I had the sea scallops over Alfredo fettucini- super salty seared scallops over a heap of cheese studded with bacon and arugula - with just a few pieces of pasta- I felt there was just a mound of hot cheese in front of me. It was overwhelming and so salty. Hubby ordered Bolognese over fettucini- again, a HUGE mound of food. He liked it- but both of us brought home 80% of what we were served. We looked at the sweets menu, but had no desire for more food. There was an extensive list of small plates which we will go for the next time- these entrees were too over the top huge (and mine salty) to go for that again. We will be back for the friendly service and great atmosphere, but definitely not the pasta entrees. They have a huge sign at the front door outlining their dress code (one server voiced concern neighborhood folks might not like that?) and the parking is all on street. I hope they find a lighter hand on the pasta, as they are really promoting that aspect of their menu.
