Hands down, BEST tasting fish dish I had in Toronto/North America this year!
Bought a LIVE 2 lb Cambodian Marble Gobi fish ( aka Soon Hock, 筍殼) from ' Koon Yip ' Chinese Super Market ( 407/Kennedy ) this afternoon. Took it to 'Maple Yip' for preparation. Handling/cooking charge was $10. The result was a perfectly cooked and uber-tasty - " Oil poached Gobi finished off with a Scallion Premium Top Soy Sauce ". ( super sweet flesh and well fried, crunchy/crispy skin and bones! ). The dish was so darn good, not only did we finish the whole dish,... flesh, skin, bones and all, we need to ask for extra bowls of rice to accompany the delicious sauce. These, on top of a huge bamboo basket ' Steamed whole Dungeness Crab on Fried Rice ' we ordered as carbs!
