Mankas Redux

Hunter | Apr 16, 2003 11:43 AM

Went to Mankas last Sunday evening. Really good meal and really good service (contrary to public opinion). They're calling Sunday evening meal - "Sunday Service" with an irreverent religious theme, i.e, amuse bouche was a wonderful local cheezse "communion wafer". Set menu included:
Potato leek soup (good); whole sea bream w/ capers and lemon (really good); rabbit sausage over warm frisee (fantastic); rack of lamb over cauliflour gratin (really good) and three desserts - hazelnut cake with local strawberries; double fudge brownies with strawberry marscapone ice cream and meyer lemon sorbet (all unbelievable). All of the food was very local. Menu costs $88 per person. We also had a bottle of Sine qua non and a cheese plate by the fire ($40!) so it wasn't a cheap meal. However, highly recommended.
