Manhattan Bahn Mi

Even though it feels like I've eaten everything in town this week but I still had room to try Bahn Mi from both Vietnam Bánh mì So 1 on Broome ST. and on Bánh Mì Sáu Voi Café on Lafayette St. this week. All were ordered very spicy.

So. 1 was my favorite of the two places. I had one "fish" bahn mi which was sardines slathered with a tomato-based chili sauce. It was an exploding torpedo of intense flavors that almost knocked me out. The meatball though was much more comforting and almost familiar yet still exciting from the contrasting pickled flavors.

I ordered a "special" from Bánh Mì Sáu Voi Café it was very good but the various meats were very fatty (some might prefer it that way) and the pate was stingily applied.

Sticky rice wraps from both places ranged from delicious (a coconut peanut concoction) to repulsive(a pork and vegetable eaten a day later)
