I live in Greenpoint and my brother and his wife are paying a visit on Friday night. I'd like to take him out for a nice local meal in decent surroundings that really reinforces the outer boroughs. He's a native NY'er now living in San Fran who owns and operates 2 cafes - he is no stranger to great food. I thought of Sripraphai, Pio Pio, Tangra Masala, and some Roosevelt Ave. options but ruled against 'em all for a variety of reasons. Now, I'm pretty much focused on giving him an "old school charm" experience. The food, quite frankly, is secondary in this instance so long as it's still good (if not great)! He is very well-traveled, sophisticated, etc., but very down to earth and he's seen it all. We just want to go have ourselves a good time in an environment that has some character and characters as well. So, back to the subject header - Manducatis or Bamonte's or something else in the W'burg/LIC area?
