Mandarin - Fountain Valley

Midlife | Feb 16, 2006 11:53 PM

I've had lunch many times at Mandarin (Brookhurst and Ellis, in Fountain Valley)and always with a good friend of Taiwanese descent. Every meal has been extremely good and, based on my years of travel in Asia, pretty much "authentic". I'd assume dinner would be the same. But I don't see this place mentioned here..... so I'm wondering if any issues might have escaped me. I believe it's owned by a principal of Kingston Technology (a big tech firm) and he has a private dining room upstairs.

I've also been to nearby Wei's (with the same friend). While it seems maybe a bit more 'grass roots' (less upscale) I don't find it to be any better than Mandarin, yet Wei's receives positive vibes here often. Am I missing something?
