Man Bites Dog--We Chat Cafe replaces Oh! Village in El Monte

Chandavkl | Jan 23, 201408:26 PM     4

If you've read my article on the dwindling representation of Cantonese restaurants around the country, you'll know what I mean as We Chat Cafe, a Hong Kong style cafe, has replaced Oh! Village, a second generation Noodle Island spinoff, which itself replaced the El Monte branch of Liang's Village. Menu here is relatively small for a cafe, with a little greater emphasis on meats. The salmon in lobster sauce and the curry fish were both fairly good. We Chat Cafe is at 10131 Valley Blvd. And in the adjacent shopping center they finally took down the Dumpling 10053 sign (coincident with the closing of the successor Fortune Dumpling?) over 4 years after they left.
