Mama's Vegetarian - Must go!

OK, the appearance of this new little take-out restaurant with a few tables to eat at on 20th street may not draw you in, but it is a great new restaurant. The food is incredible. Mama's Vegetarian is a kosher falafel restaurant on 20th street between Market & Chestnut. I had the Mama's Platter ($6.50) which was a huge platter of 8 balls of falafel, three salads (cucumber, tomato, cabbage) and hummus topped with a spicy sauce and a fresh pita on the side. The pita was homemade and delicious. Just dense enough. The falafel was crunch yet light and creamy on the inside. The best falafel I've had in a long time. There is an entire condiment bar with tons of pickled veggies and other condiments and peppers that I wasn't very familiar with but they were tasty. The prices are incredibly reasonable: large falafel sandwich ($4.50), eggplant in a pita ($4.79) (which looked delicious) and latkes in a pita ($4.69). To top it all off, the staff was incredibly efficient and friendly. A must go, for the best falafel in town, and a nice change of pace from the regular center city lunch places!
